Tapeswitch^® Sensing Mats

In addition to the safety mats, Tapeswitch produce a wide range of non-safety sensing mats. These switch mats are usually adapted to suit the customer’s application in terms of sensitivity, covering material, switching configuration, etc as well as size and shape. The versatility of Tapeswitch ribbon switches, which usually form the switch elements of these sensing mats, means that we can produce custom-designed sensing mats in an enormous number of varieties.

We have produced switch mats with widely different characteristics – from sensing mats designed to detect objects weighing less than 2kg, whilst still having the durability to survive in an industrial environment, to mats that will not be operated by the weight of a person but will detect a motor car. The durability of Tapeswitch ribbon switch technology has allowed us to supply sensing mats to all kinds of industries such as: circular switching-mats to initiate fountains in a children’s game in recreational gardens; multi-zone mats to act as multi-directional footswitches for medical beds; passenger-counting applications on public transport; multi-zone cushioned mats in the therapeutic treatment of brain-damaged children; and so on.
